Why it started
This mission comes from lived experience. When someone you love is in treatment, being nearby matters — emotionally, physically, and financially. This ride converts miles into relief, presence, and practical help.
Max Koenig is riding from Sri Lanka to Mongolia after watching his own family live through cancer up close. This ride turns endurance, distance, and story into practical support for families facing treatment, uncertainty, and long days away from home.
During Max’s senior year of college, his mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. Weekends became hospital visits, routines changed overnight, and the meaning of support became painfully real. Pedal for a Purpose was born from that experience — to help other families stay close, breathe a little easier, and feel less alone while treatment changes everything.

This journey was not created for attention alone. It was created to turn a personal cancer story into something useful — comfort, proximity, and practical support for families who need to stay close during treatment.
The page focuses on the actions that matter most: donate, follow the ride, and view the official organization behind the mission.
